Recipe Card Maker is a free browser-based tool for creating beautifully styled recipe cards you can download, print, or share on social media. Enter your recipe name, ingredients, step-by-step instructions, and optional details like prep time, cook time, and serving size — then choose a visual theme and download as a high-resolution PNG. No account required and nothing is uploaded to a server.

How to Use Recipe Card Maker

Start by typing your recipe name and a short subtitle. Optionally drag a food photo onto the drop zone — it will appear as a full-width banner at the top of the card. Fill in the meta details: prep time, cook time, servings, and difficulty level. Add your ingredients (with amounts) and instructions one step at a time. Choose one of the five themes, pick a canvas size, and click Download PNG to save your card.

The live preview updates as you type, so you always see exactly how the finished card will look.

Themes

Five visual themes are available:

Theme Style Best For
Classic Warm cream, Georgia serif, gold accents Traditional and family recipes
Modern Dark background, bold sans-serif, amber highlights Contemporary or trendy dishes
Fresh Green-tinted background, clean sans-serif Salads, healthy, and plant-based dishes
Rustic Warm parchment, Palatino serif, brown accents Baked goods, comfort food, farmhouse style
Minimal Pure white, light sans-serif, gray tones Clean, editorial, or portfolio-style cards

Canvas Sizes

Four export sizes are available to suit different uses:

  • Card (600 × 840 px) — Standard recipe card format, ideal for printing at 4×5 or 4×6 inches
  • 1:1 Square (1080 × 1080 px) — Perfect for Instagram posts and Pinterest pins
  • A4 (794 × 1123 px) — Standard A4 page size for full-page recipe printouts
  • 9:16 Story (1080 × 1920 px) — Vertical format for Instagram and TikTok stories

Adding a Food Photo

The photo is completely optional. If you upload one, it appears as a full-width banner at the top of the card and is compatible with all five themes. Accepted formats are JPEG, PNG, and WebP. You can drag and drop the image onto the drop zone or click to browse your files. To remove the photo, click the Remove link next to the thumbnail.

Without a photo, the card uses the full canvas height for recipe content, giving you more space for longer ingredient lists and detailed instructions.

Tips for Better Cards

  • Write ingredient amounts in a short, standard format: 1 cup, 2 tbsp, 100g
  • Keep instruction steps short and direct — one action per step is easier to follow
  • Use the subtitle field for a brief description: "Ready in 30 minutes" or "Grandma's Sunday special"
  • For printing, the Card canvas (600 × 840) exports at 2× scale (1200 × 1680 px), which prints sharply at 4×6 inches or A6 size
  • The square canvas is best for sharing on food blogs or recipe social media accounts
  • Leave prep or cook time blank if not applicable — the card shows a dash placeholder automatically

FAQ

Is Recipe Card Maker free to use?

Yes. The tool is completely free with no sign-up, no subscription, and no watermarks on the downloaded image.

Does my recipe data get saved or uploaded?

No. Everything stays in your browser. No data is sent to any server at any time. Your recipe text and any photos you add never leave your device.

Can I add a food photo to my recipe card?

Yes. Drag a photo onto the drop zone or click to browse for an image. Supported formats are JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The photo appears as a banner at the top of the card. If you leave the photo blank, the card uses a text-only layout.

What image format does the download produce?

The download is a PNG file exported at 2× the canvas resolution for sharp results on screen and in print.

Which canvas size should I use for printing?

The Card size (600 × 840 px) is the closest to a standard recipe card ratio and prints clearly at 4×5 or 4×6 inches. The A4 size works well for full-page printing. All canvases export at 2× resolution.

Can I change the colors or fonts?

The five built-in themes cover a range of styles from classic serif to modern dark to clean minimal. Per-theme color or font customization is not available, but each theme is designed to look professional across all recipe types.
